This bontanical art exploration by Tori Stowe is part of a bigger community drive to reinforce the awareness of the beauty and fragility Bathurst’s indigenous thicket.
During the 2 hour creative studio session, we will observe, draw, paint and pattern - using plants from the commonage as inspiration. The techniques and mediums to be demonstrated and practiced include working with ink, charcoal, watercolour, collage, pastel and pencil, and combinations thereof. Each attendee will create their own take home artwork. Then, using the ideas and skills honed, contribute to a large collaborative artwork that will be part of the massive horticultural exhibition at the Bathurst Show 2027.
Although no skill or experience is required to attend, Tori would like to extend a special welcome to practising and established artists, and those who have an affinity with nature. People who would like to contribute positively to an awareness of our natural heritage, and the conservation thereof.
Four sessions will take place: firstly, a practice: as the techniques are demonstrated and experimented with. Then a sketch-up of ideas. Thirdly, a final, take home, artwork. Finally, we will all work together on the large collaborative piece.
Activities will be punctuated by coffees, conversations and snacks.
Ages 12 and up.
